order Passeriformes: perching birds
family Turdidae: thrushes
Field identification tips: The American Robin (Turdus migratorius) is a familiar thrush, widespread in North America. As its name implies, the American Robin is a migratory species, breeding as far north as Alaska. Most western birds (T. migratorius propinquus) such as those shown here are paler and duller overall than T. migratorius migratorius of eastern North America.
